Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Omegle Redux processes when you use the service. Omegle Redux is intended for people who are at least 18 years old. This document works in conjunction with our Terms of Service.

Information We Process

When you open the app or start a chat, the service may process:

Information Shared With Your Match

When you are matched, the app sends each user the other user's approximate region and country, as well as profile details you choose to share, such as your nickname, pronouns, language preference, and interests you have in common. Your match can also receive your chat messages, as well as your audio and video streams if active. Always remember to not share information with a stranger that you would not want that person to have.

WebRTC peer-to-peer connections may expose your public IP address to the other participant as part of establishing the connection. The app also shares an approximate region and country with your match, but does not send your IP address as profile information.

Camera and Microphone

Before you enter the search queue, the app asks for camera and microphone access. The resulting media stream is used for the voice and video chat and is sent through the WebRTC connection. Omegle Redux does not record or save your camera, microphone, or video-chat content, but connected users can view or hear what you choose to transmit and may record it themselves.

Cookies and Browser Storage

As much as is reasonably possible is stored on your device rather than on our server.

We use cookies to remember whether you selected the light or dark theme. The app stores your history list, policy confirmation, and settings, such as your optional nickname, pronouns, language preference, and interests, in your browser's local storage. You can remove this information at any time by clearing the site's cookies and browser storage.

How Long We Keep Information

Connection details, matchmaking state, profile preferences such as nickname, pronouns, language, interests, and real-time signaling data are normally held in server memory only while needed to provide and maintain a connection, and are removed when the connection ends.

In order to facilitate reporting and protect the service, we may retain information about previously-made connections for up to 24 hours after the connection ends. This information may include the IP addresses of the participants and the time of the connection, but does not include chat messages or media streams.

Information needed to enforce security measures, bans, restrictions, or other actions may be retained for as long as necessary to maintain and enforce those measures. For example, an IP address associated with a temporary IP ban may be retained until the ban expires. Security and abuse-prevention records may also be retained for longer when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, prevent repeated violations, or protect the Service and its users.

Chat history and settings remain in your browser until you clear them. Infrastructure or service providers may retain technical logs according to their own policies.

Service Providers and Third Parties

The site loads fonts and other assets from third-party content delivery networks such as cdnjs and Google Fonts. Video connections use Google's public STUN service to help establish peer-to-peer connectivity. Those providers may process connection data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies. The service also uses an internal location lookup component to estimate a region and country from an IP address.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide matchmaking, establish and maintain chats, display approximate connection information, enforce bans, troubleshoot failures, and protect the service. We do not use the app's data for advertising, nor do we sell your data.

Security and Your Choices

Use a current browser, review its camera and microphone permissions, and avoid sharing personal or sensitive information. You can stop a chat, revoke camera or microphone permission, clear local storage, or delete the theme cookie through your browser settings. Although we try our best to ensure security and follow best practices, no internet service can guarantee absolute security. We are not responsible for any privacy or security failings caused by you.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the service or its data practices change, and you're responsible for reviewing the updated policy. The date at the top of this document identifies the latest version.
